Marie-Hélène Bellavance, a multidisciplinary artist, completed her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a minor in Psychology at Concordia University in 2004. She has already had several group and solo exhibitions in various cultural and museum spaces in Quebec. Her practice revolves around the body and its innate capacity for resilience. Through pictorial, video and installation works, she offers viewers a space for transformation in the face of the various griefs that cross and inhabit us. In 2005 she made her first appearance on the contemporary dance scene with the company Corpuscule Danse, a company dedicated to the development of inclusive dance through an artistic practice based on the encounter of dance performers with and without visible or invisible disabilities. As a performer she danced for choreographers Jemima Hoadley, Estelle Clareton, Chantal Lamirande, Benoît Lachambre and Lucie Grégoire. Now co-artistic and general director at Corpuscule Danse, Marie-Hélène Bellavance continues to develop her vision of the contemporary body and to offer a look at bodily and functional diversity.
