Synopsis

A vertical blind is a curtain with regular gaps in it. Moving past slightly opened vertical blinds while looking through these gaps into a space or at a movement behind them is like looking through a slowed down camera shutter. The movement gets fragmented, strobing, like a nineteenth century Zoetrope. The spinning Zoetrope leads to the revolving glass door. French Exit is organized around a specific revolving glass door which is located on the side of an office building on Queens Quay West in Toronto. The choreography and movements of the dancers, the music by Matt Smith, the entire edit and structure and beat of the film follows this door.
