Biography
With a background in dance and broadcast journalism, and former dance editor of the Montreal Mirror, Marites combines her passion for movement and film through her award-winning inventive shorts. Commissioned by Toronto’s Nuit Blanche and the Remi Modern Museum, HANDSHACK, her interactive installation with live projection, twists a blind handshake between two strangers into unexpected choreography. The travelling version, HANDSHACK-Nomadic, has been taking the streets internationally. Marites enjoys telling people’s stories, and particularly those who use art to overcome obstacle. In her spare time, she likes dancing slowly to fast music, biking, and writing about herself in the third person.
